Sorry for the simple question, but I notice in my current car a significant difference in noise when I close the moonroof fabric cover in the cabin. Even though the moonroof is closed, if I open the slider panel, I can hear noticeable wind noise, particularly at speed. I am curious if there is more noise through the glass roof? Any S/X owners have experience with this?

The tinting is pretty heavy...too heavy in my opinion....but definitely no issues with heat or UV.

In order to get the glass roof you need to purchase the Premium Upgrade Package. And what's included with the PUP? The premium audio system. BOOM, noise problem fixed.

FWIW, I have 2 friends with the Model S. They think the all glass roof is noisy and would prefer to order a steel roof M3. Like with any subjective thing, I guess you've got people on all sides.

Would you be willing to ask them to share a recording of the noise they are hearing from the solid glass roof? Very curious about their experiences based on mine.

Yup, I'm aware of that, thanks, but it only covers the front area and I'm also concerned about the aesthetics of it as opposed to a factory installed sunshade.

I have never felt like I needed a sunshade in my Model S. We have a Model S as a company car at work with the metal roof also and I really cannot tell much of a difference between it and mine with the pano roof.

Glass roof has just one layer, the glass. Metal roof most likely has three layers; the outer metal, some insulation, and then the inner headliner. Theoretically more layers should be more quiet.

I don't think it's glass vs metal, but glass vs. soft interior materials lining the metal that can act as sound deadeners.
