whats going on guys, I am purchasing a model 3 awd long distance and am considering adding the self driving package. What are people’s thoughts and experiences? Is it worth the 5000 before I buy or should I wait...

...5000...

It used to make sense to choose EAP only because it covered almost everything except for 2:

1) Traffic lights and stop signs automatic compliance
2) Automatic driving on city streets.

Now, the new standard AP is missing quite a few from EAP:

1) Auto Lane Change
2) AutoPark
3) Summon

To me, the addition of Auto Lane Change is well worth the money because I've been using it quite a lot.

At the very least wait until after the event tomorrow where Tesla is expected to show new FSD functionality. It’s going to be live streamed tomorrow at 2PM Eastern / 11AM Pacific. Should have many more answers after the event, or one would hope...

I didn’t get FSD when I got my car. I got auto pilot with TACC. That’s more than enough for me. Elon has said that FSD will go up by quite a bit starting in May. But FSD isn’t here yet other than summon and lane change and auto park, and imho who knows when it will be available. I have a friend with 2 model S (his and hers company cars) that he leases. He got the FSD on both and his lease ends in a month. He’s rightfully pissed because he got nothing so far and has to turn in the cars. He will lease again but won’t opt for FSD again. Depending on your driving it may not be worth it.
