Is the Wall Connector the same as HPWC?

I've seen the Wall Connector referred to with different names. Tesla even has different installation instructions for what they call the Wall Connector and the High Performance Wall Connector:

    https://www.teslamotors.com/sites/default/files/blog_attachments/hpwc_install_guide_rev_3.pdf

Are they the same thing? Am I missing something? Is there a reason for the different names?

Thanks and please forgive my complete noob question.

    Yes.

Tesla has waffled on how to market it a bit. They seem to be using Wall Connector more frequently now...

    Thanks. That's what I thought.

I gotta say, this user forum has got to be most helpful and respectful of all forums out there!

Actually HPWC stands for High Power Wall Connector, not High Performance. Perhaps Tesla dropped the "HP" and just calls it Wall Connector now because some installations are wired to supply only 40A rather than 80A.

There is also a version of the Wall Connector for Asia and Australia that is only capable of up to 40A. It obviously has the Tesla version of the Type-2 (Mennekes) connector since that's what the cars in those markets have.
