Is there some reason NOT to use range mode?

Range mode disables battery heating which reduces energy usage on short trips. Is there some reason why I should not use it permanently during winter?

eco mode ( range mode ) is 70% power at front wheels and 30% at the back else 50/50

It also disables battery preheating when preheating the car. So saves energy if you're not plugged while preheating.

I’m perfectly warm with it on. It doesn’t disable HVAC it just runs it more efficiently which might not heat or cool as quick but it’s still gonna.

I have never heard that range mode reduces battery cooling. Battery heating - yes.
Someone find a reference that says that or I would not believe it.

Range mode turns on torque sleep with D models. That is pretty significant and the primary reason to use range mode all the time.

In summer time I won’t care if range mode is on and likely have it off. It’s in winter I prefer it not heating the battery on short runs.

I’ve not gone through a summer yet but the only reason I got a 7 seater was for the larger AC compressor and a separate rear condenser for my pups.

Range mode also reduces battery cooling. Presumably a warmer battery gives some more range at the expense of battery longevity. That’s the reason not to use ramge mode.

That's the reason I turned it off forever 3 years ago.

Obviously. No one is claiming it disables your heating or cooling.

It's a resistive heating element. There isn't any "more efficiently". It's always at 100% in just converting electricity into heat. This is the same kind of effect where you are trying to fill up a bucket with water, but you claim you are doing it "more efficiently" by only having your faucet turned on halfway.

Yeah, it will be slower to heat up you and the cabin, which a lot of people don't want in cold winter weather.

Same here, I always felt "colder" with it on. This in the Sierra Nevada mountains (Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California) and it wasn't worth. If I really felt like extending the range ...
