So I was watching a news clip on the USA Today website about the Gigafactory when I saw a screen shot of a Model S display. The graphic on the left shows what appears to be a range estimate calculator that I have not seen before. The car is apparently new with only 317 miles as of the date displayed on the console, June 21 ( I am assuming it is of this year 2014.) Has anyone else seen this particular graphic? Perhaps this is something new forthcoming in software update 6.0? See around timestamp 2:10 http://www.usatoday.com/videos/news/usanow/2014/09/04/15070543/
It looks new to me. I think it is showing 96 miles projected and 168 miles rated on the left, if I can imagine what the fuzziness shows when the center screen says 168 miles range. This would make sense with the energy graph on the right off the charts. It looks to be data from the energy app, but I've never seen it displayed this way before.
It says "Range Estimates", with "Projected" and "Rated" values. Underneath it looks like "Projected from the last 30 miles"
From your close-up it also shows the energy app displayed on the right looks different. The axis labels are a large font. I think we're seeing a 6.0 display!
I agree. Hard to tell how old it is, since the date says Thursday June 21st, but June 21st this year was a Saturday.
Nicely spotted RLA! For sure some new feature there. And it's not in 5.14 as per Cottonwood's reports so my guess i 6.0!
The Silva Franklin II add on the USA today page (only thing I could discern) was from 6/23/2012 according to Wikipedia...
The usa today web page on the main screen helps us here. The Silva Franklin II ad is from June 2012 (UFC 147 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). Pretty sure this is quite old.
Ah, June 21st was a Thursday in 2012. That means the pictures is probably really old, not really new. Darn. Still might be a 6.0 feature though...
This display existed in Model S Signature models, from this image. I think Tesla dropped it in later versions of the software.
It's old, old. I'm pretty certain I saw that back in 2012. Note the center screen doesn't have driver profiles or home link either. - - - Updated - - - You've got a slight case of inflated optimism there. ;-) - - - Updated - - - Thread title updated.
Dang, thought I had something. Leave it up to the good Tesla sleuths out there to dissect and debunk. The wait for 6.0 continues...
Yeah. That's old. I liked it and wish it hadn't gone away. The Signature cars were delivered with that software.
Another tip was that the main headline on the USA Today page was 'Romney outlines long-term immigration plan'. It's a nice reminder that Congress hasn't done anything substantive on that issue over the past two years...
