Who cares, it's not a production car. They can claim whatever they want. Until I can go and buy one their claims are pointless.

Also, the whole 0-60 and 1/4mile competition is kinda foolish. Personally I don't care so much about the quarter mile time but I can see that a lot of people would.

I think it's great there's competition out there and innovation and 9.9 second 1/4 mile is crazy fast. But I'll also point out that its a pre-production car they are claiming as production. And I thought they are using like a 115kw battery so not that surprised it's faster considering the Raven S uses 100kwh and does 10.3-.4 currently

it is relatively easy to tweak an EV for one remarkable run. just some taps on a keyboard. Knowing that is how production cars will be calibrated is another story.

Lucid is still raising money and awareness. Would certainly be tempting for their engineers to tweak things before the race.

I don't really have a skin in this brand war thing. I love my Tesla and the people at my Service Center and so far I have not been disappointed. That being said, Tesla could stand to have some legitimate competition because right now, there is none. I think Elon is both the impetus for the positives and negatives surrounding Tesla as a brand right now and I feel like the negatives are partly because he does not feel threatened in the marketplace.

Is this an exact apples to apples comparison? Well, I think so. It is a Sedan and while the price speculation is all over the place, that hasn't stopped comparisons with the S vs the Taycan. Whether or not some people car about 0-60, 1/4 mile, whatever metric you want to to 'matter', this is getting close to all encompassing. Yes, this actually needs to hit market in some sort of respectable volume but let's not forget it took Tesla time, too.

So I'm happy with this. It leads us in the direction of competition for Tesla and this will result (hopefully) in increased improvements for Tesla. This likely won't affect my car other than software updates and optimizations but it is still good for future consumers.

A hell of a first offering. If their luxury is as good as it seems, it won’t take a back seat to any sedan.

I wonder how much faster the tri-motor with larger battery pack will be.

I've ran 9.x ET's in street cars at a NHRA dragstrip. It requires a NHRA comp license. You must run a cage. Who cuts up their >$100k luxury car to cage it? Nobody. That's why you don't see exotics at Tesl-n-Tune days. They have been cutting Teslas some slack, but when they hit 9's expect the rules to be enforced.

In any case some folk are calling the Lucid a ringer, but be aware that the first "762HP / 10.x sec ET" Tesla Model S was a ringer. Buyers were pizzed that their cars would not run the number. Because the ones they sold in 2015 did not have 762HP. Only the press car at the time ran 10.x.
