Is this the last month of the model 3 reign before its slow death due to the "Y".

Not even close. This whole CUV thing is very, very American. In Europe (and the UK... sniff), people don't care as much at all. Then again, we really like our hatchbacks there and Tesla doesn't have one (no the S/X doesn't count). I'd love a Model 2 Performance hatchback. A boy can dream!

Yup. I wouldn't be surprised if all Model 3 production moves to Europe at some point. Many of the German manufacturers make (or made) their sedans and hatches in Europe and SUVs in NA and ship across the Atlantic as needed.

Yeah once the Y comes out all new media content will be about the Y and the 3 will be old news. Like the S,X and what's a roadster? are now. But.... It won't be "dead" other than that.

Tesla probably needs to increase it's inventory of demo cars - as most were sold last quarter. When you drive the car, it sells itself. Anyone on the fence about a model 3 or Model Y would do well to actually see one.

If Tesla is going to release Model Y's soon, they probably should add some of those to the demo fleet. I know there are a lot of people waiting for them, but it just seems appropriate if they actually show the car to the public.

I am having second thoughts about my order for lr awd m3. It is obviously a beautiful, tech superior, performance machine, but in 2 years wilt still be relevant with the "Y", that by all accounts will dominate the ev market. Placing an order today for a lr awd model y, you would realistically be looking at 1 year until car in hand. On top of that no telling the production/ quality control issues for the 1st year of production.
Just thinking out loud......
It’s all a matter of personal taste. I think the Model X is fugly, and the Model Y is just a miniature version of the X. I prefer the sexy look of the Model S and 3, and especially the nimbleness of the 3.

Here's an article (Tesla Model 3 crushes US Top 10 EV list as only car with increasing sales) that was published today from Teslarati. I'm sure the Model Y will do fine for its market of folks that intend to buy it but, IMO, the Model 3 is not going to lose much steam any time soon. The Model 3 has pretty much established a nice sweet spot, starting at $35k, and after China and Germany start cranking theirs out on a regular basis the Model 3 will stay atop the leader board in EV sales for a long time.

I think what's going to happen is Model Y is going to sell an insane amount in the US as most people in the US love SUV crossovers vs sedans. So most people that were going to get a 3 will get a Y so sales of 3 will drop. Y will also pull in new buyers who wanted a bigger car to begin with. So in my opinion the Y will do disgustingy good and the 3 will drop in sales, how much ... we'll see.

let's not forget that the Model Y is quite a bit more $$$ than the Model 3. at least what's available for order on the website... currently it starts at $53k for the AWD LR. Not everybody who wants one will be able to afford one and for some a noticeable cheaper Model 3 SR+ might be a better choice....

are you comparing the performance Y? Last I looked into it (a few months ago) it was only like 4k more then the 3 with comparable L R AWD models.

My guess Tesla will sell ever Y they can make and over time will make more Ys than 3s.

With BMW their 3 series sedan sales are in decline and their X3 crossover sales are climbing. And this pre-dated the Model 3 introduction. People just seem to prefer small SUV/CUVs. It will be the same with the Tesla 3 and Y which is good, because the margins on the Y will be higher.

Waiting for all the Model 3 owners to step up to a Y and then pick up a nice used 3 at a good price for the wife, Zero interest in a Y while waiting for my Cybertruck.
