Is VW and its subsidiaries one or multiple mfrs for purposes of the 7500 tax credit?

Is VW and its subsidiaries/affiliates Audi, Porsche, Bentley etc., one or multiple mfrs for purposes of the 7500 tax credit?

Anyone look into this? I think auto mfr is a defined term in IRC 30D and it refers to some other auto regulations. But I wonder how easy it would be to create additional car company affiliates that just barely counted as separate in order to maximize use of the tax credit.

tracks them separately: I"M not sure that is right though. The answer is likely buried in the definition of car mfr somewhere in the regs

Irrelevant; even if you add them together they're only 1/8th of the way to the limit. Something will have drastically changed before they get there.
