It's true the CPO process is as BAD as they say...

I spent a lot of time on message boards and doing research prior to making CPO purchase. I was fully aware that I'd be putting a deposit down with just stock photos and no test drive and that was not an issue... I heard wait times could be up to 6-weeks and in rare cases even longer, but I figured since I was purchasing car locally (LA) and 2014 model with just 20k miles how long could it truly take to refurbish (and not having to worry about shipping issues), short answer much longer than they promised and I'm still at least 1-week out.

Timeline:
2/23: make reservation/deposit
3/14: sign final purchase order docs
3/23: speak with advisor and says about one more week
3/30: speak with different adviser, they can't give update, but said in "Final" stages
4/4: speak with yet another adviser and he personally talks to techs and now say won't be finished with refurbishment until 4/12

Basically if you are working with Buena Park Tesla, don't expect them to meet delivery deadlines, I was promised 4-6 weeks and 7 weeks now looks like "best case" scenario.... just disappointing experience overall, impossible to get a hold of anyone, they are way overworked and not nearly enough people in CPO dept.... as many people have noted it's amazing that a company of this size (and stock value!) cannot get its act together. I'm definitely in the buyers remorse camp now given how this has gone. While this might sound petty, I consider this to be a luxury good and with luxury goods I expect a certain level of service and this has been a major fail.

Good luck to all going through the CPO process, hopefully you have more patience than I do (or aren't working with Buena Park Tesla).

Registered to confirm--I'm in the same boat with Buena Park. My car (P85+) was also a LA car--I submitted the signed paperwork on January 21. I've been calling my advisor (Mohamed) just about every week after the first month of radio silence, but really, for the last month and a half it's always been "a week, week and a half away". The latest update on 3/24 was that the car was ready to go to Burbank and would be out the door the following Monday! Naturally, it didn't, and Burbank informed me late last week that it's still at Buena Park awaiting the "bumper guy". I think they need more than one bumper guy?

This weekend will mark week 11 since submitting the paperwork.

Honestly, the wait wouldn't kill me so much if I had that information up front, or at the least got honest updates. The worst part is this whole thing has just sucked the fun out of it--I'm just not really excited anymore : /

Don't let this spoil your attitude. There's thousands of us that waited more than a year just waiting for out invitation from Tesla to place our order. Yes, that was then, and this is now. There's dozens of reasons as to why its delayed. No, you don't care, and you should not care. But it is what it is. What you can do is embrace the feelings of this wait. We know the feeling. We call it Teslanxiety. Instead of hating it, embrace it. Its like waiting on Christmas our your girlfriend getting off the plane. Enjoy the excitement and the feeling of waiting on something special. It will soon be gone. One more thing. Once you put your okole down inside that seat and drive away for the first time - none of the wait will matter and 5 minutes later you won't remember the wait. Trust us. I've been there three times now.

My car where I placed the deposit on 03/03, should be finished the refurb process this saturday 04/08, and hopefully available for pick up the week of 04/15. At least this is what I'm being told. When I first placed my deposit, was specifically on a local car, and they were telling me 3-4 weeks at the time. When I found out it was coming in from CT, it then became a 4-6 week car. We will see what happens over the weekend.

Wgen I put the deposit down been told that it will be here this week and even have delivery appointment for this coming Saturday. Originally I wanted to pick it up from CA since I will be there the wholw next week but they assured me that there os no charge for delivery and it will be here before I go to CA. After week of "final touches" I went to the store where all started and insisted for accurate status. They called Buena Park and the answer was at least 2 weeks from yesterday.

Reading this thread I am betting money that it won't be ready in 2 weeks.

I am thinking of:

A: choose another car from different SC

Or

B: forget about Tesla and get something else or just stay with my corrent vehicle /nothing wrong with my Rubicon, just wanted a change/

Geez 11-weeks is ridiculous and now I'm beginning to wonder how much truth there was to the statement that my car will be ready "next Wednesday"... I agree it's taken fun out of it for sure, but has also caused huge logistical challenges for me (since I sold my car recently thinking I would have my Tesla by now). I don't even blame the advisors, it's an unmanageable system in buena park (they told me they are refurbishing triple digit number of cars each month now at that SC). One option I wish they would offer is an expedited delivery service, I would gladly pay an extra $1-$2k if they could guarantee me the car in 1-2 weeks, perhaps i'm in the minority here, but again i view this as luxury item and OK paying up for exceptional service (i.e. same reason i'm willing to fly biz class and pay 5x price of economy seat).

i'm not I'd choose another car at this point given where you are in the process, but buena park SC is def one to avoid if you were beginning the process now (or for people reading this and researching)... i read on another thread someone who ordered from Denver and it sounded like they got car within in 10 days (or something ridiculous)...must be nice.... just too much volume at BP and way too little CPO staff.

Well, throw me in the mix on waiting for a CPO from Buena Park, my deposit was placed on 03/09/17 and was originally told 4-6 weeks for delivery. Just as a "safe measure" I lowered my own expectations and have a mindset of delivery for the end of April. I will say that replies from Mohamed are either quick or non-existent, I have also received replies from another CPO adviser named "Aaron" I think out of the L.A. S.C. that has been replying back to me as well. I did recieve pics last week, and I can clearly see the car is in Buena Park (originally was in Dublin, Ca) and looks like it is/was going through the CPO process.

I can not understand why they just don't ship the car as is to the SC where it will be delivered and have the CPO process to be completed there or at least to offer it as an option /some times the SC at origin is not as bussy as the one at destination or the opposite so I feel the customer has the right to choose/

I actually picked up another one, local that was there but still not for sale. The best part is I have to be at the SC on saturday 2pm to pick it up but they may call earlier.

It is newer car with much less miles and it is there ... available.

I spoke with my OA and after explaining that I am a bit disappointed and involving his manager he asked me to go with him on the parking lot behind the showroom and said "this are all the used cars we have -choose one" then we checked the vin on his laptop and I actually had to choose from 2. Then I told him that if the one I choose can be ready by Saturday night /I am going to California for a week/ we have a deal. He called service manager to check the car and to say if it is possible to have it inspected by Saturday. He was very nice guy. We talked a bit about which of the 2 cars is better and then he asked me what time Saturday is ok for me to pick it up. I said that Saturday I can do it at any time he want and he said "let's do it at 2pm. I will give you a call if it is ready earlier".

I think he already know the condition of the car. In fact he said that recently it has been serviced and has new wheels and tires, went over the car checking edges and so on for dents, chips and other body stuff. We did test drive the car /actually he did with me on the passenger seat/.

May be I become too annoying since I decided to go in person /second day in a row/ since over the phone and emails the things simply don't work very well and they decided to get me out of there ;)

Let see if they are going to deliver the car as promised

Fingers crossed

Hi! I just got my cpo on 3/14. I put my deposit on 1/8 for local car in my area. Was told up front that it would be 6 to 8 weeks. Before I pulled the trigger, a few months ago i made an appointment for test drive and got the whole sale talk. I them ask about inventory and then cpo. I emailed both the CPO and Inventory specialist, until the CP0 rep found me the right car for my price (i wanted ap1)
even if you are buying an CPo, you should go in test drive a new one and learn more about the car and develop that local relationship

Geez. I seriously would have thought they'd have improved things at Buena Park by now. One of my big hesitations on CPO (that was finally made moot by 3rd QTR lease bonanza) was how long it took to get anything back from anyone in regards to the process. Specifically, my big beef was the inability to test drive a car configured anywhere close to what I was wanting (2013 P85+), because they didn't have any OR they were in the loaner fleet, which took days to find out.

Finally, right at start of 3rd quarter, they got my local SC in Palm Springs to let me test drive one of their P85+ loaners. After 2 months. They are going to SERIOUSLY need to step up service staffing for Model 3

I too have been waiting on mine - past the 6 weeks. Seems like this is the 3rd time that the car is being detailed. Radio silence from Mohamed. Appears to be in San Diego, 10 miles away, getting detailed yet again, and no one can give me status. Very frustrating.
