It's true the CPO process is as BAD as they say...

UPDATE: after a brutal 8-week long wait (was initially told 4-6 weeks), I finally took delivery of my P85+ CPO yesterday.... car drives great and was in fantastic condition and pick-up/delivery process at service center was A+.
However, the refurbishment process and customer service during this period was horrendous and I really think Tesla needs to get its act together here to ensure long-term / happy / returning customers. Like I said I don't blame BP service center staff they are just overwhelmed with deliveries, I just wish corporate would do something about it.

Pics below :)

I too have been waiting on mine - past the 6 weeks. Seems like this is the 3rd time that the car is being detailed. Radio silence from Mohamed. Appears to be in San Diego, 10 miles away, getting detailed yet again, and no one can give me status. Very frustrating.
Finally got the car on 4/8 in Buena Park. It was not in San Diego as Mohamed had told me. Got a call Saturday morning telling me that my car was getting ready for shipping bp to sd and would be ready in a week or so. I went semi ballistic and told them that I'd drive the 100 miles to BP and pick it up today. I was told they'd need a few hours to detail it (again? Does detail mean buy time??) but that i could have it at 4:00. Got up there at 4. Car was sitting in the parking lot with 18 miles of charge. We waited in the SC line (3 locals in front of us) to charge the new CPO. Wife went off to do the paperwork while I waited to charge mine for the return trip. So,we got it. Really poor touch up paint attempts on the hood with micro scratches around the blob (excess rubbing compound?). No swag (stopped that process on 4/1), no bow (wife's car after all) and no introduction drive with the delivery specialist. Love the car - now have 2 model Ss, but very disappointed with the process...

The easy way to fix this is to not list them for sale or available until they are repaired, safety checked and ready to go to the customer!!

Oh? You mean like EVERY other freaking car company out there? Heaven forbid they deliver something on time.

I'm at 7 weeks and waiting on mine. Non stop lies and delays. They claimed it would be ready last Friday. Then Monday. Then Tuesday. Wednesday now and they are saying they'll get it back Thursday but only need a half day to do what they need to do to it. And yet I can't pick it up Friday, it's Saturday at noon at the earliest now.

This has been the most infuriating car purchasing process I've been through. If they fail to follow through on Saturday, I'm out. This is completely unacceptable.

It will be worth the wait! But I agree, you should not have to go through this.

I'm actually so disgusted with the process and the company that I'm not sure I will be. I'll give them until Friday afternoon before I walk away from the brand forever. I've never been jerked around like this by any other car brand (Most recent ownership experiences BMW, MB, Jag, Audi, VW, Subaru, Toyota, Honda).

This shouldn't be this hard.

Yep, and you should see how they treat Tesla owners on the trade-in side of this equation . . . as bad, if not worse. The current remarketing program is so broken, and creates such "lose/lose" outcomes, that I can only assume that this problem just hasn't hit Elon's radar yet.

See this ever-growing thread, among others:

How much more damage will Remarketing do to Tesla sales before they figure it out?!?

We love Tesla (our family has purchased seven thus far), but this level of persistent stupidity by otherwise brilliant people is beyond comprehension.

I agree. I've read through that thread. Any other manufacturer awards loyalty with additional incentives and discounts. They want you to buy a newer car on regular basis, and as such will make a better offer on your trade to do so. The car I was trading in on my Tesla (I don't even know if I can use that term anymore... since it's likely vaporware) was a BMW. The local BMW dealership who did my maintenance offered me $5k over what Tesla was offering for trade.

When they're the only game in town, they don't care about repeat customers. Brand new cars with QC defects? suck it up, the next guy in line will want it, or the next guy after that,... Same with CPO cars, the acronym is a misnomer, those cars haven't been "certified" at all, more like throw them out there and hopefully the buyer, all giddy with getting a Tesla, will have overlooked all the defects, and will be reluctant to go back to the service center after getting informed it'd be several weeks wait time. The sparkling image that Tesla has built up initially is eroding fast. I feel bad for all the Model 3 buyers, the vast majority have no idea what they're getting into.

Wow. Bakerboy ordered way after me and his car is ready. I hope it's good.

Update from yesterday. Heard from the salesperson. I will admit the salesperson has been better at communication than the DS. And he always seems cheerful and friendly. And perhaps wildly optimistic. He said he went personally to the body shop yesterday and saw that there were three people working on the car. He didn't take photos of the car, because it was a a work in progress. So still no pics. He does feel confident that they will get the car back this morning (Friday) and that we should still be ok for Saturday at noon.

The DS however.... I'm getting a different one if this delivery actually happens on Saturday. Why? The DS assigned to mine has taken a vacation starting yesterday for about a week. Not saying that people need to seek my approval for a vacation, but at least providing some sort of indication that they won't be the one I'm dealing with at pick up would be nice. That being said, I suppose he doesn't know when pick up is actually happening. Communication with him has been terrible. I'd only get responses after reaching out to the salesperson 1-2x and advising him that I had called/texted the DS but heard nothing. And even then when the DS has contacted me, his tone and nature has been terribly dismissive. His last text to me was that "They were doing everything to accommodate my pick up schedule." My pick up schedule?!??! If it was my pick up schedule I would've picked this car up at the end of MARCH. Not at the end of APRIL. He's made it seem like Tesla is doing me a favor by selling me a car. That this is some sort of allocated exotic where I'm lucky to be even allowed to purchase it. Any time I've been in contact with him, I've always ended up with a sense of dread (on my part) and loathing (on his part).

We will see if the car actually gets delivered to Tesla this morning. The salesperson is optimistic. I'm pessimistic. The original DS doesn't care. Plus he's on vacation.

Oh and it appears Tesla swag is definitely dead.

I received my CPO on Wednesday (19Apr) after ordering it on 20Mar. I was surprised to get it so soon after reading many CPO experiences taking so long. I decided to pick it up instead of being delivered, hoping that would speed up the process.

I picked up from SC in Chicago. Felt rushed through the process but they were very friendly. No swag though, bummer.

Long trip home from Chicago to NC but it was awesome!

How was the condition? Any to dos at a future date? I plan on picking mine up at the Westmont, IL SC. That is if this happens.

Condition was better than I expected because my car has a lot of miles on it 36k. They pointed out a small dent on rear panel that is, honestly, very hard to see. You have to catch the reflection at a certain angle, even then it is hard to notice. They said my local SC will take care of it. There were scratches on base plate of door frame and a few in the interior, but that is to be expected.

I got an 85D and they had it fully charged and it showed up at 265 miles. That is a 10% drop from new battery miles and I've read that usually happens around after about 100k miles driven. That was really the only big disappointment I noticed after inspecting it. It was VERY clean.

Hope you get yours soon.

MVPA was generated on Tuesday. Perhaps it wasn't sent to Alliant by DS. Maybe I was supposed to do it, but I wasn't instructed to do so. At any rate, I sent it, and things are finally moving. Salesperson has confirmed the car is at the service center and undergoing refurbishment, and I will be able to pick up tomorrow. Replacement DS has contacted me to confirm tomorrow at noon. Things are finally looking up. My salesperson kept telling me to have faith... he was right.

Howdy neighbor. I put down the deposit at the beginning of March. The car was in Florida and was 'ready' about 3 weeks ago and scheduled for shipping. After it came here they found a lot of problems in the paint work and now it's gonna take another week!

Interesting thing - if I had done what you did and just went to pick it up I'd have it quite a bit sooner, but it would have had serious body work in need of doing... pretty incredible how they marked it as "ready" in Florida.

Just a followup on my car. Sure enough, the car was ready for me to check out last Saturday, as scheduled by the DS. And it was in immaculate shape, particularly for a 36k mile car. New tires and wheels, as far as I can tell, paint in great shape (some paint chip filling that wasn't perfect, but good for a used car), the interior was some combination of remarkably well-cleaned or replaced. The car also had bonus parking sensors, third row seats, and a parcel shelf (???). Burbank staff was friendly and helpful. Picked up the car for real the following Thursday (credit union had to process the financing), and got the delivery treatment (and swag! Why does everyone care so much about swag though, its an umbrella and a mug, come on now).

Anyway, the car is mind-blowingly good and I'll never daily drive an ICE car again, so ya, I guess that worked out.

Infuriating process though : P
