While exiting the autobahn I got a thumb up from a passing smart Smart driver, thumbed back with a

Just before arrival I looked at the price tags of a gas station, passed it with a:biggrin:

At 14:35 I started with a fully charged car in range mode heading to my hotel in Tiefenbach @ (76684 Oestringen) where I wanted to stay overnight.

Made a coffee stop at the OBI do-it-yourself store in Bensheim. Charging wasn't necessary, but you can watch the people watching the charging Tesla from the coffee shop, usually great fun.

Time : 24.02.2011. 18:45
odometer trip : 325,4 km

But this time it was obviously to late in the evening, nobody passed the Tesla. So I left after half an hour and an excellent coffee and piece of cake.

Finally I arrived at my hotel, drank some beer with the hotel owner, who is very fond of EVs and went to bed.

Time : 24.02.2011. 20:15
odometer trip : 394,8 km
68 km left in standard mode

At 14:40 I headed back home with a fully charged car in range mode. I thought about a nice detour through the rhine valley but decided against it, weather was to bad for this. I will do it in spring or summer and take some pictures. So I just took the A61 straight away home.

Arrived at 19:15, plugged in the car, kissed my wife, greeted my cat and finished the day with glass of a supreme beer :

Time : 25.02.2011. 19:15
odometer trip : 751,3 km
used net energy : 110,7 kWh
average usage : 147Wh/km
39 km left in standard mode

I did even 660km within a single day. charging twice at an HPC. I started in Switzerland, first stop in Austria, second stop in Munic and back home in Lower-Frankonia despite the fact of being locked in a traffic-jam before the Pfändertunnel (i had to throught the city of Bregenz) and a accident with full close of the autobahn just before the crossing of Memmingen. A total of 10h drive.

Thanks for this - really nice trip report.

Could you specify what type each charging point was?

of course :
at my garage 1 x 230 @16A will soon upgrade to 3 x 400V@32A CEE, one for the the Roadster, one for the Model S and one 24/7 for guests / other EV drivers
at my office in Langenfeld and HQ employer : 400V@32A CEE, soon also wireless charging
at the hotel 400@16A, but there should be also a 400V@32A, will check this next time
at OBI 230V@16A, Park & Charge Box, there should be nearby (10 km) a second box with 400@32A CEE, will check next time

If my math is correct; that was 470 miles.

main reason for writing this report was to show, how one may use an EV in the daily business right now based on a suggestion of dpeilow in a different thread.
I drive round about 45.000 km in a year. When buying the Roadster I thought , quite optimistic, I could do 9.000 km of these with the Roadster. Now, after 6 months my odometer says 18.300km and I left out the December completely. The Roadster isn't a good Christmas present carrier:wink:

So just a normal business trip, many other will follow ....
