Just bought a New 2018 LR RWD from Tesla

The Delivery support specialist that I was emailing with responded with this:

The delivery center would be best for that question. To me it appears to be a showroom vehicle being a 2018 with only 117 miles.

Not sure who I contact at the delivery center or I can just wait until I pick up the car.

This was at the San Antonio Tesla correct? I saw that car yesterday and thought it was very strange to have a two-year-old car selling as new - I thought I had 300 miles on it maybe were talking about different cars, but this one was long range will rear wheel drive as well.

Weird with 7000 miles. Might be a corner case though for you, if the build date was prior to July 2018 or whatever. Also you may not have free connectivity indefinitely. It all depends on what you actually purchased.
I definitely felt it was an oddity the car hadn’t been sold prior to that or that it had that many demo miles but with an adjustment like that I wasn’t going to start asking too many questions!

This was in Bay Area California. Maybe they had a bunch of them just earmarked for sale at the same time?

There is confusion about the software range updates. Many went above 310 to nearly 320-325 but after a few months seemed to come back to below 310 on a gradual decline trend line as shown on teslafi logs. I wouldn't worry unless the 100% calculation was under 300 miles. This is the longest range Model 3, 10-15% longer than present dual motor and PS.

Yes, I think that's a great find. I have a vin 15xxx one, April '18 build, that was a return/refurb and it was in excellent condition, and has worked out extremely well for me. I presume yours was a showroom, sat and had people sit in it over and over for a year or so, maybe a few test drives, and then was sent back to tesla to get reworked/refurbed, or perhaps just cleaned up at the location it's at, and now you get to buy it basically new. And as has been stated, the LR RWD ones are the stealth econo unicorns - the ones that actually get the 310 mile range. While they're the slowest cars tesla has ever built, they go the farthest (so far).

Congrats.
I also ordered a 2018 this week, same color. M3 AWD LR in red with the 19" wheels for $44,210

VIN is 33xxx - not sure if that says anything good or bad about the car (haven't lurked here much I guess?)

Congrats on yours as well! Mind sharing more details about your car? Did you get it used or new? How many miles on it? Have you taken delivery already?

It was listed as new inventory with 30 miles on odometer and pickup is Friday, excited about that but not sure what to look for in a 2018... some things have changed overtime I think (no trunk mats? seats?) I am doing some research tonight to prepare for the inspection.

Congrats on the car, sounds like a better deal than what I got. Hope everything works out for you.
