Just turned up the PV system, logging seems off

We just had a 11.4kw system installed and it has the Powermaster monitor thing installed.

I've noticed that the app never shows anything going to the grid, it's assuming everything generated is being used by the house. I have a handy zigbee monitoring tool that shows what's going on from the smart meter, and it's showing everything correctly.

So is this a mis-install on their monitor (wrong location?) or with PV panels will it just show generation, not what the real power usage is.

I have no idea who "powermaster" is, but it depends on if the app shows power going to the grid or not. If I remember correctly, the tesla app only showed generation when I didnt have powerwalls. Even in the tesla app now, if I swap from the powerwall panel to the solar only part of the app, on that page it only shows generation.

It never even showed consumption for me, because tesla did not provide me with CTs on the solar only install in 2016.

TL ; DR -- If this is a tesla install, and you only have solar, it may only be showing production. If its not a tesla install, it depends on what the app of that company shows, and whether they have a consumption meter. When I just had solar only it just showed generation,

If this were the case, they wouldn't have installed the box to measure power coming in/out of the breaker panel. It might be a newer thing for Tesla? The app shows the house/panels/grid and where power is going, however the data is wrong.

Then the configuration of the CTs is wrong.... but you never answered who "powermaster" is....

It's just the brand name of the box they installed, just a zigbee monitoring tool that feeds back to their gateway. Sorry, I mistyped, it's Power Blaster by a company called Energy Aware. It looks like they were bought by Neurio.

Thanks for filling that in. Either the CTs that measure the current are installed wrong, or, they dont provide showing power going to the grid for solar installs. Not sure which one, but you should be able to find out by contacting tesla energy support.

I sent them a message, we'll see. I don't know much about CT's, do they measure both directions?

Well, with the neurino system they installed with my powerwall they do. I am qualifying the answer because I have no idea what capability they install with solar only installs.

Have you tried calling the energy support number? Will likely get MUCH faster turn around, and they tend to answer the phone there, unlike a lot of other tesla phone numbers.

877 nine, six one, - seven, six, five, two

(trying to avoid info scrapers so typed the number out instead of in phone number format.)
