This podcast is fantastic. We get to understand Karpathy's journey to Tesla, working with Elon, how Elon thinks, etc.

What I enjoy most about Karpathy is the way he speaks. Every word is carefully chosen, clear, and deliberate. His work requires immense detail and specificity, so it's great that he also speaks in a way that represents his work.

After listening to the podcast it seems Karpathy's main job is to curate video and pics.

At around 52:45, Karpathy says that Tesla owns the training "cluster." That's the first time I've heard about this. I'm assuming this means that Tesla owns the computers they use for training AP. Is that how you guys are interpreting it?

After listening to the podcast it seems Karpathy's main job is to curate video and pics.

I don't think he personally curates the data. He focuses on curation strategies, workflow, and engineering. In a prior talk, he emphasized the difficulty of finding the "needles in the haystack."

Tesla has owned a GPU cluster for years.
