L.L. Bean installed its own superchargers (reporter says)

It really is a nice story, even if the Portland (Maine) Press Herald reporter is totally clueless:
Bill Yeo can’t wait to use the new electric car charging station at L.L. Bean

"When we called Bill Yeo to talk about the electronic car charging station his employer, L.L. Bean, had just installed...."

The chargers "are a lot faster than you’d get at your house with a 120 volt."

The best part (not sarcastic)? The day the superchargers went online, Tesla delivered his M3 to him.

Reading your introduction and the "totally clueless" part, I was prepared to see a HPWC on the side of a building being referred to as a supercharger. But no, it really is a full supercharger installation: eight superchargers, plus another eight "conventional" L2 chargers.

The reporter doesn't actually say that "L.L. Bean installed its own superchargers." The wording that you jumped on, "his employer, L.L. Bean, had just installed....", is something that you might say about any installation at a known location, such as a mall or a Target store. "The mall just had some new Tesla chargers installed..."

The article goes on to clarify that Tesla actually reached out to them. Sounds like it was a joint effort: "I had been planning on doing this, but our facilities team was already on it. Tesla had reached out to the outdoors retailer. “They (Tesla) are trying to build up their infrastructure. They have over 11,000 charging stations. There is no other car company in the world that has that many." :)

Actually, the writer is the one with a clue.

Bean has installed 8 (eight) L2 chargers in the same parking lot, next to the Freeport Superchargers.
(They had the official opening at an event during NDEW).

If you look at the photo you can see a pair of the L2s on one post.

The Freeport Superchargers has been open for much longer.
