Thats not that far out there. I've seen articles on using crystal memory with lasers that provide about the same amount of storage. Nice find though. <Insert 2001: A Space Odyssey reference here.>
I agree I have even seen scientists working on storing data using some kind of liquid solution. Definitely way of the future.
