Picking up M3 on July 19th. Should we be looking for a specific firmware update? Looks like 2018.24.1 is the update which has the "summon" feature and Wifi support. Will the support center always make sure the latest firmware is installed?

They usually do. You can always request it and as long as they aren't slammed, they almost always accommodate. This is me speaking from experience on the east coast though, as from what I hear, the west coast can be drastically different.
The “latest “ update often means the one with a problem. In this case the 2018.24.1 update isn’t being installed any more because of a problem with it. 2018.21.9 is still the last update in widespread release. Of course this could change any day. Don’t worry about what firmware is in the car when you get it. If it’s not on the car when you pick it up, you’ll get it in a few days. Everyone needs to chill out about getting updates.
