Leaking Instrument Screen

Has anyone had to pay to change out the instrument screen? How much did it cost?

I have a 2013 Model S and the instrument panel started leaking.

I bought a new screen from AliExpress and is a great alternative. Only it misses the shiny top layer but now it cannot leak anymore. I placed a screenprotector to compensate the dull look and it looks like factory now.

You can also remove the top layer and clean up the plasma but I was to lazy for that.

If you are going to have the work done at a Tesla Service Center, it is less expensive to just get the MCU2 upgrade, which comes with new center and instrument cluster screens.

The liquid is toxic so be careful. I am surprised the NHTSA has not forced Tesla to fix this even for cars out of warranty.

I ended up upgrading to MCU 2 for $1,500 (no radio module) ... computer is faster now , but no more leaking...

Also changed the control arms of my 2013 MS because they were creaking, now its time to change the sway bar links.

Do a search in this forum, there are quite a few threads about this and options for repair. That goo is nasty stuff...
