If you buy these Hitch removers, it takes me less than 15 seconds to get the hitch off. It is not difficult at all. If you don't have these then it can be a pain, but seriously, breaking certain clips off, replacing it completely (unless it is for aesthetics, like this from @yellowr6I’d remove the horrible Tesla cover and replace with this:
