Yea, the tesla one is a regular/passive adapter (no onboard electronics) while this one is an active adapter.

To use the tesla oem you need to have a newer manufactured 3/Y or a refreshed S/X
Or you have to purchase the gen 3 charging ecu and wiring adapter/harness (if applicable) and go into your trunk and swap the charging ecu yourself to make the oem passive adapters work

This adapter is an active adapter, similar to teslas chademo adapter however this one takes the css, translates it into chademo and lets the tesla charge that way through chademo
This adapter is primarily for owners with older 3’s/y’s or owners with older pre-refresh X/S
