Left front metal on metal noise...

Brand new to this forum. Never had any issues with my 2016 Model S except the browning around the screen which was warranty resolved.

Today I heard a metal on metal sound coming from the front left tire area. It almost sounded like a brake pad on a rotor or perhaps a bearing in the front left. The sound is more definitive at slow speeds and turns into a continuous but less noticeable white noise sound at high speed. The sound also changed pitch when turning.

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue (5/2016 and it has 28.7K miles)?

Could me a brake pad wear indicater. It's a small piece that rubs for a heads-up to check the pad

could be a stone
try reversing whist dabbing the brakes and wiggling the steering whell to see if that will knock the stone out

brake wear not impossible but unlikely as regen means the brakes last much longer than for ICE

Thanks guys - I don't think it is the brake wear pins only because the brakes should last much longer than 28K miles...but I am going to have it looked at and will let you know.

thegruf was correct!

It took a couple of days, but I was pulling out of the driveway yesterday and when I made the heavy turn on to my street I heard what sounded almost like a spring pop. And stopped the car and sure enough a small stone (worn smooth on one side ) was lying on the concrete and the noise ceased.
