Legacy Model S USB upgrade

Hi all

Has anyone managed to upgrade the USB ports in the centre console?
Ideally I'd like to upgrade them to USB 3 if not higher as I'd like to run a high speed nvme drive for dashcam.

My fast speed USB is still ridiculously slow and I don't know any other way around it due to the limitations of USB 2.0

Any tips recommended

USB 2 vs 3 is not a “ports” thing, it’s a controller thing, and that’s dependent on components soldered to the MCU.

I saw on another forum someone replace the rear console on a Model 3 which allowed them to go from USB A ports to USB C ports. There was an adapter they purchased from Etsy. Gave them 27W of power on each USB port.

I have tried to find something similar for my 2017 Model S but havent found anything yet. If anyone finds a solution, I would love to convert my ports.. The factory ports are extremely slow / low powered..

If you only need power then why not to use the 12V plug for something like this?
