Wigston here. Spotted a 70 plate blue model 3 at Sainsburys on Welford Road last night. Looked straight out of the showroom. I've had my blue M3P for 7 months.
Will post this in the wider forums but this is good news. First batch of largely available residential chargers in and around Blaby. Charging points coming to district – Blaby District Council
Yeh I thought that. Will def be swinging by those sites in the new year to see them. Only the Blaby one is really worth my while.
How did I miss this thread! Had my white M3P just over a year now and love it. I'm from Coalville and have seen another 4 locally.
seriously why bother.... 7Kw chargers!! may as well plug in at home!! Seems a waste of £77K to me as 7kw are almost obsolete The twelve 7kw twin chargers will be placed in car parks across the district to increase Council’s car park offering and ensure electric vehicles are accessible to all, especially residents who may not have the access to a charging point at home. Charging points will be located in: Leicester Road, Narborough Weavers Court, Narborough Enderby Road, Blaby
Maybe so owners without a drive can charge overnight that live nearby? I think sorting that out is a much bigger issue than installing more rapids if mass EV adoption is to happen.
i think this too. Too much fast charging ruins the battery so having a large number of lower speed chargers in an area designed for people to leave their cars for longer durations, I think is a step in the right direction.
Don't think it'll happen now work is well underway at Rugby Services, if anything I'd now say Donnington Services would be another good location.
Thanks - that's interesting because on the Tesla map it shows Leicester to be done in 2020 but no mention of Rugby
The 'Leicester' SC has been on the Tesla map since 2016. For Elon I suspect Rugby = Leicester, actually its probably London = Leicester = UK .
Ordered a M3LR last week, very excited. Free chargers are coming to Fosse Park by spring next year too.
I have been in to work for the past 2 days - only a 12 mile commute. I've seen 2 Model 3s each day. They're growing! More and more of them!
Got a wave from a fellow Tesla driver yesterday between Leicester and Market Harborough. Wasn't anyone here was it? (I didn't wave back and feel bad)
Moderator comment - two posts re charge point installer recommendations in Leicester moved to create new sticky thread UK Charge Point Installer Recommendations
For those in Leicestershire. I asked about running a cable and got a reply based on not furthering the EV revolution in Leicestershire. Let's hope the destination chargers pick up the slack
