Lets Talk Windshield Washer Fluid, eh?

I live in the peoples republic of California which prohibits VOC's in washer fluid outside of winter snow areas, so I make my own. I use a 1:3 dilution ratio of methanol to distilled water and then add a couple ounces of 2010 Products windshield cleaner concentrate (basically concentrated detergents and surfactants), plus my food coloring of choice (pink). The result is something that works better than anything you can buy off the shelf. Adding methanol does more than make the washer fluid freeze resistant - it also helps lift gunk off the windshield.

Just picked up some more BMW concentrate.

Still a bargain at $4.38/bottle. I’ve never found anything that works better.

That's a good price. Amazon has one for $13. From your picture it appears that you just went to a BMW dealer parts counter to buy them?

Yes, parts counter.

If you have a Mini dealer closer, they sell the exact same stuff. The label just says ‘Mini’ instead of ‘BMW’. Same price, too.

So RainX windshield washer concentrate is no bueno? I've used that stuff on my truck and Subaru with no issues.

Water. You dilute it how ever you'd like (there are mixing charts on the bottle). More concentrated if you live where it gets cold, less in warmer climates.

I make two gallons with one bottle of concentrate.
