As a matter of fact I suspect that when Tesla offered the original P85D owners a path to get closer to what was advertised for a "discount" of $5000 and so many took them up on it I think they thought "WIN"!

Speaking as one of those that paid the 5K, I didn't consider it a win. But options available were few.

I'm almost certain @NOLA_Mike meant that Tesla thought "WIN" that so many of us were willing to pay the additional $5000.

I'm sure whomever at Tesla came up with the idea of getting us to pay $5000 for the privilege of winding up with a car that still had far fewer HP than we had originally paid for was very familiar with Tom Sawyer and how he got kids to pay for the privilege of painting his fence.
