LFP battery in Model 3

Just got an email to set up delivery for mine mid next week (SoCal).

Teslas site now reflects a change from 263 mile range for SR+ now showing 262 mile range on new orders. There may be some truth there and my guess is all SR+ will be LFP after all this.

So does this mean that SR+ ordered just before the announcement (with an estimated date in January) will also get LFP batteries?

Most likely, yes. I’d expect this to be a permanent change. (Well, as permanent as Tesla gets, anyway!). And that’s not a bad thing … LFP is some seriously good battery technology.

Tesla is still listing the LFP batteries at 253 not 263. They just put a bunch of existing inventory up today and that's still the mileage listed.

Considering they've been using this battery for almost a year now in China, I doubt they were able to magically increase efficiency the week they release it in the US. I'd go with the sticker isn't updated over the site. I could be wrong though.

Maybe the firmware update they were waiting for had something to do with it?

Is there any data WRT battery degradation in the MIC LFP M3s, which have been out a while now? Hopefully it is reduced vs that experienced with NCA batteries in the SR+ to date. My experience has been excellent with LFP batteries in other applications (I'm assembling a pack right now for an electric powerboat I'm building), and I would consider a new LFP M3 if they're holding up as well in Tesla's...

That was mine. It came from my SA so I assume it’s legitimate. If it was false info they’d have some serious uses with federal regulations.

I would think it's positive, as you can charge your LFP batteries to 100% without damaging/wearing them out.

Folks is there a place we are tracking lfp based existing inventory orders and time to delivery from when you place an order? Tracker sheet or excel sheet somewhere?

It's accurate, they reduced the buffer size (increased usable battery) after you hit 0% from around 5 kw to 2.5kw. its just a software update to implement.

So my software version is 2021.11.103 , and my lfp-mobile charges up to 253 miles. Should I be at a later version if I ever want to charge up to 262 miles?

All new Model 3 orders on Tesla's site now show 262 as well (used to be 263)...I wonder if they plan to fill all open orders with old battery and move to LFP for all people that switched+all new orders.

I'm not convinced they will make any more with the old batteries. I mean, they should deliver what was promised, but this is Tesla.

I heard in a youtube LFP review that Tesla was considering using the Performance model's rear motor to save on weight for the SR+ LFP model. Any insight into this claim - is it true?
