SEOUL (Reuters) -- South Korean supplier LG Chem plans to supply batteries for electric vehicles that can travel more than 200 miles, or 321 kilometers, per charge in 2016, its CFO said on Friday.
The CFO, Cho Suk-jeh, did not elaborate on which automakers will use the so-called second-generation batteries.

What a useless article. It's relatively easy to build a long range battery for a car. What matters is the cost, size, and durability of the battery. The article says nothing about those attributes of the car battery that LG Chem says it "plans" to make available. And is it simply a "plan" or is it a battery that is going into production soon, and if so when?

How is this even possible when this article (which has it's own thread about the topic) states that LG Chem was one of the ones waiting for the new battery chemistry which didn't pan out. So what else could they being doing? Just blowing spoke?

Can the world Quartz

Dahn’s and Argonne’s NMC formulations were snapped up in licensing deals by big global companies including GM, South Korea’s LG Chemical, Germany’s BASF, Belgium’s Umicore, and Japan’s Sony and Matsushita.

It gives no specifics but the article says LG Chem will have the pack available for sale.

If price or specs were not competitive then LG Chem would not make it available for sale nor would the create factory capacity for it.

It may be small scale compliance vehicle numbers or something larger.

But IMO it is news that SOMEBODY other than Tesla plans for battery packs with range of 200 miles or more by model year 2017.
