As I said, water on the road makes a big difference.
You are missing my point. If you remove the two drivers I've singled out, the remaining six of us have much more in line numbers. It's because of the small sample size (8) that 2 outliers really can change the average.
Or said another way - the overall sample size used in this statistic isn't big enough to really allow creating truly comparable state by state numbers.
Dennis is just a mad man, pure and simple! And I've convoyed with him (his wing man)!
Interesting thing about his daily commute, which I'm only guesstimating where he lives, and I know where he works... a relatively short commute (8ish miles?), without much terrain/elevation change. 4 miles or so, at highway speed.
My commute is 30 miles one way, from Beaverton to Vancouver, rush hour. Half "with" traffic, half "against" at highway speeds. Start by descending 700' then climb another 1000' halfway through the commute and descend the other side. Just reversing the process coming home.
I saw one person on these forums (back east) who had a lifetime avg at around 260 with a good commute, but I suspect he seldom has speeds above 50, and few stops... plus moderate temps. He had 19s, not sure if it was 60 or an 85 he had though.
