Lifetime Wh/mi

Just wanted to share how efficient the model 3 is and see what other owners have been getting for lifetime Wh/mi. I've been averaging 240 Wh/mi since I've taken delivery of the car and that includes some spirited driving.

It’s 270 Wh/mile but they count from the power outlet so it’s not the same as showing in the car.

yes, mine in 19" wheels has been more like 240 wh/mile rated miles = actual miles...

Ca bay area, mixed highways and local, 19’ tires, No heater.

Mine is 284 Wh/mi after about 6500 miles lifetime. All highway at an average of 70MPH. Aero wheels with covers installed.

My average is about 265 wh/mile so far over 500 miles, with aero wheels. I'm wondering if it's going to turn out the 19" wheels get better mileage? The small sample here might suggest that.

Think they're talking lifetime mileage on the cars, not how far they can go on a single charge.

I did a road trip last month and there was a long strip of flat freeway where I was able to a crude efficiency vs. speed test. I simply put it in cruise control, reset the trip meter, and noted when the efficiency stopped changing. I had the aero covers on my 18" wheels.

65 mph - 239 wh/mile
70 mph - 266 wh/mile
75 mph - 303 wh/mile

I'm averaging like 340+ but it's pretty cold atm in Chicago. I'm assuming thats a major factor.

I am at 250 Wh/mi with 1172 lifetime miles. 18" wheels with the aero covers

if you want a comparison with the Model S, I've had mine (see sig) since October of 2017. And here in New England, it's cold and I lose a lot of efficiency to the cabin heater and the battery heater. 354Wh/mi lifetime.

I've been playing with my driving style on my relatively short commute (10 miles) that is mostly highway driving to see what i can find out. If i drive without any climate control and as gently as possible, i can get around 210 Wh/mi. Driving more "normal" (not avoiding accelerating for merging and passing) i will get around 220 Wh/mi. If i run climate control while driving normal, it's more like 250-260+ Wh/mi.

Longer drives definitely improve this as well, i've had a few longer distances drives average 190-200 Wh/mi. All with aeros.

Interesting that they show you the Wh/mi. but don't measure it at the motor, they include heat and potentially headlights and subwoofer.

I have a motorhome that COULD have come with a diesel generator but fortunately it comes with a propane one so all of my miles per gallon reflect fuel going thru the engine. Sounds like they don't do that on the Tesla.

270 with aeros and about 1900 miles. Cannot for the life of me figure how people average significantly lower unless they don't deal with hills and most of their miles are on local roads.
