Lights stay on after exit and music keeps playing

Just picked up our Model 3 today and we're having some odd issues.

At first, the volume kept turning up on its own, as though the car thought left scroll wheel was being activated. This stopped after a while and hopefully will resolve itself.

Next, on more than one occasion the lights stayed on after we parked and walked away. This happened both with "lights on after exit" setting on and off. On a couple occasions the music (Spotify streaming via Bluetooth) kept playing in the car even after we had left.

Tonight my wife went out to the garage after being inside for half an hour and found the lights on, music playing...

We are going to reset the computer tomorrow. Any other ideas? Are these known issues? I've poked around on the board and haven't seen anything quite like this.

Was wondering when I'd read about someone else with this issue. I had the radio part of what you describe happen a few times last week one day while parked in the garage. In my case the radio not only turned itself on but the volume was ALL THE WAY UP! Turned it down, closed the door, radio stayed on. Then started turning up again. Manually adjusted down, was still going up on its own, so I immediately rebooted the computer. All seemed fine again so went back in the house. Hours later, hear noise from the garage again and the radio again not only turned itself on but was again ALL THE WAY UP! Turned it down, rebooted, then played around with things a lot - don't remember exactly, looked at the app on both phones, changed radio sources, etc. Looked for something wrong, couldn't find anything. Have not had the problem since. Was thinking of starting a radio possessed thread if it kept happening, but all has been quiet. Didn't notice anything unusual with the car lights.

My garage is attached to the house, shares a wall with the office room, I remember both times this happened I had recently brought my phone into the office. Likely the car was in bluetooth range and unlocked itself with no one opening the door or driving it for some time, might have something to do with it.

What software version are you on? I'm still on 2017.50.12, I know there are 2018 builds out now. Plan to let service update it during my scheduled appointment for other issues in a few days.

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one! We are on the latest software - I know this because our delivery specialist was noticing new things as he showed us the car (on-screen owners manual, different wipers interface).

We are going to reboot and see what happens (still haven't had the car for 24 hours yet). If anyone else is having these issues (volume turns up on its own, music turns itself on when you're not in the car, lights stay on forever after exit) please chime in and let's see if we can get to the bottom of it.

Picked up our M3 on Thursday, the volume bumped up unexpectedly about 2 or 3 times, never again that day (or Friday). Today the whole screen view has been moving quite a bit, same issue you've had Yitt, in the garage it's a dance party. Ended up putting the screen into "Clean Mode" which seems to hold after the car is locked until the service center can take a look.

We have not had a recurrence of the lights or music issue yet, but today my wife saw two warning messages when she parked the car. One of them was something like "auto emergency brake disabled." She can't remember the other one.

Based on some other threads here, I'm wondering if these issues might be related to the 12v battery? Probably will call the service center tomorrow and see what they recommend. I was hoping to wait a week or two to see if any other issues cropped up so we could address them all at once, but this is enough different things, all of them weird, that I figure we better get it looked at before we get stuck somewhere.

1) Have you removed the touchscreen screen protector? Those that haven’t sometimes report phantom touches that may be the cause of the volume going up on its own.

2) Do you have option set to lock car when you walk away? If not, set that option and see if the issue goes away with stereo and lights remaining on.

I think the touchscreen protector film was off on delivery; I do have it set to lock, the mirrors fold. It was cold out, somehow that seems relevant because the car seemed to think i wanted it to warm up

I'm hoping to see what the newest firmware does in the coming days...

We had something that seems like this issue: volume would change on its own, navigation would pan/zoom on its own. After trying reset and many reboots, support told us the issue was overly sensitive touchscreen setup and that SW updates would fix. They pushed 2017.50.13 550ee35 which for us has solved the issue. They did mention that maybe another upcoming SW update would be needed but it seems that for us the issue is gone.

Call tesla support, report the issue and they can push you a SW update. This solved the issue for us.

Our car is doing the same thing, but we had video proof when we took it in to the service center. The car also randomly unlocks and locks itself.

Make sure that you capture video or take pictures when it happens, it helps a ton during the diagnosing process (pics automatically take time stamps if you're using a smartphone).
