I don't want to in any way trivialize this recent tragedy in upstate New York. But accidents like this really make you think about the way autonomous vehicle incidents are covered by the media.
Can you imagine if an autonomous vehicle blew through a stop sign at a three way intersection and hit a parked car, killing 20 people? There would be calls for an immediate halt to all autonomous vehicle development.
In the same vein, surely this accident is yet another example of the fallibility of human drivers?
