So I scraped the bottom of the car on a potholey gravel road today

good job I decided to check it out because on wiping away the thin layer of muddy gravel it had collected there, at first I thought I had cracked the bottom of the plastic sill. A corner of plastic clearly sticking out. On closer inspection I had popped one corner of a little plastic hinged box under the sill. So I popped the other one and a little box opened.
Anyone know what they are for? Mouse portal to Narnia or something? Looks like there are several of them.
