I think you need to pay the $500 difference to enable auto pilot if you didn't pay for the parking sensors when you ordered your car. I think if you ordered the parking sensors already, it will end up being a wash because the new tech includes parking sensors.

That is weird, it's supposed to come standard now. I would call Tesla HQ in the am.

It does now, but it could be that it wasn't standard when Rawad ordered his car.

What exactly are you concerned could be happening? I'd just call them back and ask them directly about the message, since it doesn't seem to make sense. Before calling HQ, I'd assume good intent and just call the delivery specialist and ask for clarification.

whats weird is that it was not my DS that called, this other person said my car was still at the factory and its not its up for delivery on friday on the way here. and my DS said that all these features were available to me because my car was built after the date of announcment

my concern is the possibilty of not having autopilot.

I don't think you have to worry about your car not having the autopilot hardware. It's a matter of whether or not the software will be enabled whenever the feature becomes available. When you ordered, what was the price of the tech package? Was it $3750 or was it $4250? Did you order parking sensors? If it was $3750, more than likely Tesla is just going to ask that you pay the additional $500 to "upgrade" your tech package to the $4250 version. If you ordered the parking sensors, they will deduct the $500 you paid for that so you will break even.

So call your delivery specialist and say you're concerned about not having auto pilot. And then ask about the change in delivery schedule.

Still not sure what it is you think is 'something weird going on'.

the weird thing going on is one person said its still in production if i want another feature while the other person says its on route for delivery.

Whether it's in production or enroute, you can't add features now. That ship has sailed.

Just call your delivery specialist in the morning. Seems like you're worried about this unnecessarily -- and it sounds to me just like some internal miscommunication that can be cleared up quickly if you ask for clarification.

Can't add *hardware* features. But the hardware is there, and autopilot is a software feature, so this is just a matter of flipping some bits.

I understand that. But once you have configured your car and you're in production, you're not changing the configuration. If it's bits to be flipped, it doesn't matter if it is in production, on a truck, or has been delivered.

All cars being built have the hardware.

In my case, I ordered tech package and parking sensors. (Autopilot didn't exist at the time). When my car was delivered with autopilot hardware (after the announcement), I was given a $500 dollar refund on the parking sensors and was told that I will be able to pay $500 to enable the autopilot features later. It's just a switch they can flip in the software.

That's interesting that they gave you the $500 back. First time I've heard of anyone getting that.

Mine was delivered almost a month ago, I also ordered the parking sensors and fog lights before they were bundled. I also got the $500 back and was told I can pay $500 to enable new features when they come out.
