Locking wheel nut torque.

I know that many view these as a waste of time but for those that have them, I have a question. Do you torque them to the 129 lbft recommended by Tesla? This seems mighty high for something with less metal than the standard nuts.

I didn't.

I'm not saying I'm right... but having years of experience, I trust my elbow as my torque wrench.

All the other bolts are torqued exactly correct... but my Tesla security bolts just have a nice 'pinch' ...

I don’t understand why the torque is so high anyway but you have to assume the Tesla locking ones can cope with it, unless it states something lower on the packaging?

Question, so I got the wheel locks and installed last night. The torque is 129 lbs, started the first wheel with 129 lbs, but ended the fourth wheel with 128.7 ish as the torque wrench seems to loosen a bit throughout the process, only found out in the end. Will the 0.3 ish margin error give me problems down the road?

It will be fine. Unless you have an expensive and recently calibrated torque wench your accuracy is going to be +- 5% as a minimum anyway.

Thank you, will leave it then. Seems work to take off the aeros again & recalibrate.
