The different driving modes on the Leaf and Kona I’ve previously owned definitely did make a difference to economy and range, particularly with the Leaf. That had, IIRC three modes, and on a full charge the difference between sport and eco was incredible - maximum range on sport was about 65-70 miles, while in eco you could easily achieve 85 miles.
However, with the Model 3 I’ve tried both on regular journeys is similar conditions, and I’ve found there is very little difference in economy between chill and sport. I leave it in sport all the time now.
