I will be in Fresno next Wednesday and Thursday and will need to charge my Model S. Any recommendations on Hotels or locations that offer charging? Any Owners willing to share their charger? Thanks, Jose 714-391-4844
Don't see any nearby hotels that list chargers, but if you call a few and find one, please report back! I'd love to add it to my growing list of overnight EV charger locations at http://dcubed.com/evmap/ This private residence may work, give the guy a call. http://www.recargo.com/sites/3139 Good luck!
dbfish - Thanks! I had already called him and it won't work. He has a Roadster Charger. I'll let you know if I find anything.
dbfish - Thanks. I had already called the private residence but all he has is a charger for the Roadster. I'll let you knoe if I find anything out there.
Where are you coming from? If you can get away with 120v overnight and a short stop to/from the area, there are lots of RV parks in the area with 50amp service, and you can most likely talk a hotel into providing a 120v outdoor outlet you can use. You can use ChargePlanner to search plugshare locations along a route between cities.
Coming from Orange County to Lancaster to Bakersfield to Tulare to Fresno and the back to OC. The 120V may be my only option in Fresno. Will my NEMA 14-50 connector work in the RV Parks? If not, what do I need to get? Thanks Again!
Yep 14-50 is the standard RV park outlet for "50amp service". If the breaker trips on the outlet pedestal dial down 1-2 amps and try again. As always call ahead, if they don't know what to charge suggest a "dump" or day use fee of $5-10. There are some chargers in Tulare and Fresno, maybe plan stops (lunch etc) around locations you can get a charge.
I have to give a huge shout out to the Best Western Plus in Fresno. We drove from San Diego to Fresno to visit family this last weekend. To my very pleasant surprise there is finally a hotel in Fresno offering J1772 parking. In fact, it's 48amps! They have two spots right by the front door. Okay, I admit I'm a bit of a hotel snob. But my family and I were very pleasantly surprised by this place. It was recently renovated and has a very nice, modern feel to it. The room was immaculate. It's a bit on the far side of town from our destination, but it was worth it for a full charge. I highly recommend rewarding this place if you are passing through the Central Valley. It's not far from the freeways either. Note they advertise the two charging stations right up front on their home page. Nice! http://www.bwfresnoairporthotel.com/
A friend of mine wants to get a Tesla & his son will be starting school at Cal State Fresno in the fall so I was looking for a place for him to potentially charge when they visit him & saw this location on Plugshare a few days ago, glad it worked out for you...Fresno needed this!
It's not far from Fresno State! - - - Updated - - - Another reason Fresno needs this: Fresno ranks No. 1 on California pollution list
