I did. I removed the front passenger seat and made the space a large crate. Plenty of headroom.

I grew up with two German Shepards at a time who rode in the back of the Colony Park, but fortunately our family dog is a 26 pound Labradoodle who sits on the middle seat of the second row of our X, with a harness that hooks onto the seat belt. Only modifications needed are the harness and seatbelt leash/carabiner, and a towel on the seat.

I should have pics, but I haven't found them, and unfortunately my car is in the shop for a month or two (deer collision).
