By the launch they should have a concept of what the car will be, not necessarily what it will look like. There is no prototype nor are there any detailed drawing. At this point it is only high level conceptual. Elon made this clear at both his Asian speech as well as speech in France last month.

That's not quite correct. For example, JB Straubel said just a few days ago that the size will be very close to an Audi A4. They are past the conceptual stage and I am almost certain they will show a 90% true to form prototype next month in the same spirit as the Model S and Model X prototypes shown initially.

That is the right approach - it makes little sense to burn gas for 2 years waiting for 3.

I'll be getting another Leaf or another EV in a few months waiting for 3.

No, because I always back into the garage. Agreed it's good to have wing mirrors during the process though. Or cameras I guess, if they're ever made legal.

I know the debut is going to be a limited reveal of the Model 3 production intent, but there better at least be an actual new car on show come the end of March or I think there might be a riot. :wink:
