Model 3 reservation holder from day 2 in the UK... follower of Tesla for literally its entire history.
They've done some amazing things to push EV's and kick the other companies into doing EVs.
So a few things that erk me about Tesla...
- Elon joining POTUS's board (at least he eventually quit it)
- Elon's tweeting reminding me of POTUS (insulting that caver... then doubling down "he hasn't sued me").
- Taking deposits internationally for the model 3 - but the UK having to pay more, $1400 (was £1000 - exchange rates make no difference).
- Taking deposits - but not really honouring the order in which they were taken. Tesla have been very slow to sell internationally - to Europe despite the fact they can sell the high-spec versions. Currently at 3 year reservation!). I'm unfortunately in a Right-Hand-Driver RHD market. Given the centre screen and symmetrical dash I expected the RHD to follow quickly from LHD Europe. But nothing. No invitation to configure. We've been forgotten it seems !
- Tesla's service reputation issues are scary. Norway 2-3 month delays.
- Tesla repair costs ($30k for relatively minor things) - ok S,X is a pricey car - due to limited licensed service / body shops. Cars away for months, awaiting parts (Elon just had the idea of them stocking some parts outside US HQ! Jeezus!).
- Elon's other childish behaviour. Jumping from one thing to another. Dreadnought and robots -> humans under-rated. Trying to do too much and missing things (delays, battery pack assembly issues, service problems). The whole base model 3 launch was a PR disaster. Tesla's really lost it's coolness factor it seems.
- a hood you can't close on S or 3 without denting it?
- Tesla's refusal to let people fix their own car (unless you're in Massachusets!) That guy is funny - cool youtube channel

If you want to see the workings of a Tesla model S then it's fantastic... can't recall his name. Ugh!
- Tesla not releasing the open source code - in violation of the open source code that Tesla is built on.
- Claiming all their patents are open. I'm not sure I "really" believe they would share the Supercharger network!
- AP cost changes. Paying in advance for "vapourware". It'll cost $1000 more if you don't buy it up-front lies.
- Store layoffs.
I had a model 3 on order (UK resident). Today I received bank confirmation of my £1000 refund. There's a £3500 EV discount (used to be £5k) for buying an EV. Will be phased out soon I expect. Also if the car costs >£40k then you also have to pay £300 roadtax a year. I see no chance that Tesla will get the model 3 out here before the incentive closes - and even if they do I could buy one without even being a reservation holder! I have 3 years savings to buy a midrange for cash. I'm not just a teen fanboy ranting who couldn't afford one. Kia and Hyundai have 290mile range EVs for the same price Tesla might release a midrange at. Kia's car will have an air-source heat pump, is a hatchback (more convenient), >1 display screen, and can charge at 100kW/h. Tesla has some competition now. Unfortunately for them. They need to start acting honorably.
