Low solar production

Hello Tesla Community,

I finally got Tesla Solar installed in Sacramento earlier this week. However, my Tesla solar production seems low. It’s 21 panels, 7.14 Kw system. There are no trees by my house. The weather has been slightly cloudy. Is this normal? I appreciate any help. I opted not to get the battery.

Why do you say "it looks low" (what are you basing that on?). Based on the graph and the way your home / panels seem to face, and time of year, it looks fairly normal to me. Looks like your production really dropped off after about 2pm or so, but I am guessing its because of the way your home faces and where your panels are (and angle of the sun now).

PV Watts should give you a good estimate if you want something to benchmark against.

I am up in the foothills. When I was looking west, could see clouds in the afternoon. Bottom line this time of year is the pits!!!!

What direction do your cells face? The OPs cells face East, which is why the drop off in afternoon.

His site plan shows all panels facing East, hence the drop off around 2 PM. This will be there all year round but to a lesser extent in summer.

I have a third of mine facing west, but during this time of year, my garage shades them for most of they day so they are pretty worthless.
