Ordered 10/07 M3 LR AWD White on White
Changed Delivery Center on 10/21 from Devon PA to Owings Mills MD. the rep at Devon told me i had a VIN i wonder if changing delivery center delayed me. wish the guy would've told me. no VIN in source code at all. still waiting.

Tesla design website now show new order Model 3s eta 5-8 weeks.

I think this shows Tesla is very confident in meeting end of year deliveries. We'll see if those etas keep lowering every week.

It also is a very crude way to estimate our own deliveries. I ordered 10/18. Nearly two weeks later, somebody ordering today gets the same time frame. But I ordered before them, so my very rough estimate would be earlier in December.

I second this seeing I ordered on the 19th. Thought being in Chicago and not in Cali might speed this up, guess not. Lame.

Because of the way Tesla ships orders, you will probably get your VIN before me.

Now, getting delivery might be different. It could take a week or longer to ship to Chicago. I live in the Bay Area, so I'd probably get the car the day after it leaves the Fremont plant. Or, if I change delivery to Fremont (seriously considering it), a day or two earlier.

So I am clear, if I list my San Jose home address as delivery location, will they bring me the car? I thought they would just use that to locate the closest service center? Is there a benefit to picking up in Fremont?

You can enter your home address and if available, they can deliver it to your home. I'd suggest picking it up at the closest delivery center and doing a delivery inspection at the physical SC.

I had my MX delivered to my home and it sucked. The guy brought the car and without going over anything, he was like "Sorry, my Uber is here, I have to go. Bring it to Rocklin SC if you need assistance, otherwise the app is a good place to start". I didn't need much help, but it was gross how hands off that experience was.

I think they still do deliver to certain areas. You would have to order one to find out.

Possible benefits for a Fremont pickup:
  • Get it faster. Makes sense, because they don't have to load it onto a truck
  • More certainty at scheduled delivery time. All SC's are bound to be swamped due to crazy 4 qtr. orders. You may get delays/cancellations - aggravating if you arranged for time off from work, etc. Fremont is a huge facility, so you might be better off.
  • Less chance of damage during transit. Yes it's rare, but it does happen.
  • Very small chance they might offer a factory tour. Who wouldn't want that?

Thanks. I placed my order on 10/18.

I went back in to change the delivery location, but I do not see an edit option. I assume I need to email my Delivery Experience Specialist? Also, unrelated, but where do I enter insurance info? I see no fields besides, Delivery, Registration, Trade-In, and Payment Method.

You should see an option for "request a change". That leads to a popup where you can ask for the change of delivery. But probably much better to call the toll free number.

I see an area on my account page for entering insurance info. I just uploaded by insurance card from State Farm. I don't know why it isn't on your page. Are you buying or leasing?
