LR AWD Waiting Room

Side note, anyone else who is trading in a vehicle that you still owe on, how long did the process take? I got an appraisal done by carmax within an hour, they were going to give me 1k less, so still sticking with Tesla but seems that they are swamped right now(understandably so) so I’m just waiting patiently.

Trade in with Telsa could not have been easier.
I had a loan balance on my trade in.
They give you an offer online usually within 24 hours ; sometimes they purposely hold off on finalizing the offer until you have a VIN# assigned because they don't want 30 days to lapse between offer and trade in.

When you get a VIN though, things will move fast.
You will be assigned a delivery advisor (different from your owner advisor). The delivery advisor quickly takes care of any remaining financial or trade in paperwork.
You give them your lender info for the loan balance on the trade in and they contact them for the exact payoff info and adjust your total due at signing or financing for the new car as needed.
Once you have that final offer, you need to do nothing else.
Bring your trade in with you at pickup and leave it along with the keys when you drive off in your Telsa.
My lender acknowledged receipt of the payoff a couple of days later.

First Post Here.I ordered on Nov 25, 2019 a LR/AWD Midnight Silver Metallic 18" aero no FSD. Taking delivery at the Jacksonville, FL store. All these stories of orders from Oct not being shipped are concerning that I might not get mine before year end even though the website said I would. I sure would like what's left of the tax credit.

Us lr awd production confirmed!
Good.

I keep on getting mixed messages the more I call Tesla people. I have a LR AWD on order 10/11. No information so far, just a lot of SA and DA talk.

I called the SF delivery center and the person I spoke to flat out told me the last 2 weeks in December. She didn't even ask when I had ordered or ask for the Order number. I said, "How do you know when if you don't have my order number?" She said again, all deliveries are in the last 2 weeks in December." I don't get these people ... really.

I then called the showroom that I supposedly had ordered the car from. MY SA was out, which is good since he talks double-talk all the time- and makes no sense at all. The guy I spoke to did ask for my order number - and he said, "well, you are right on top of the stack." He admitted that as a SA he had no access to car data unless it was late in the production stage. That sort of makes sense, but contradicts what other SA's have told me.

I told the guy what the Tesla delivery center said. He said he suspected that I would get the car sooner than that, but he wasn't sure. I think he was trying to tell me all he could - which was nothing. I told him that I had tried (and failed) to get one of the stealth cars last week that were being delivered this week, and he said that was possible.

I really think Tesla should send a memo to all the SAs and DAs - saying what story they are supposed to tell customers. This way, we will all get the same (wrong) information.

The only thing you reliable information is reports from other forum members and spy photos of trucks.

I'm not sure anyone outside the plant will know much until your car is built. At that point, the Delivery Specialist can ping the car and GPS will tell them exactly where it is.

Well, my problem is still a problem. If I don't get delivery by the 2nd week in December - my wife's surgery will interfere - which means that it will be really tricky for me to get time in a 2 day window for delivery. They are currently giving a 3 day window, but I suspect then it will be 2.

So it's a really touchy problem of not being able to meet a delivery window much past Dec 15. I will try to wait and see if something can be worked out. Beyond a point, I could miss delivery much as I did in October. I'm not the only person with some kind of delivery conflict in the 2nd half of December for whatever reason.

I truly believe that my car will likely arrive past December 15th. There seems to be too much SA consensus that it will be late December even when I tell them my order date of 10/11. Not much to do but wait it out.

I also have a road trip with all airbnbs booked and must take delivery by Dec 14. Don't really have confidence that it can happen, even though my delivery center has said most likely will receive delivery info by the second week of December (which still might not make my timeline).

So, I also truly believe my car will likely arrive past December 15th, and i'll have to not take the car and buy it middle next year.

The wait continues...

I ended up switching to a stealth and the only day they will give me is this coming Saturday to pick up. If I want to switch days, my SA said I have to give up my VIN and they would have to find me another. My Thanksgiving weekend plans were just cut in half basically as I will be heading back to San Francisco on Saturday morning from Tahoe to pick up my car in the afternoon.

Sorry about your weekend plans. Tesla unfortunately doesn’t have much consideration for the fact that we all have other obligations in our lives. Well, hopefully you will get your car.

For some reason they didn’t want to let me switch to a stealth. This recent batch was available, but I couldn’t get one. So, I have my original 10/11 order ... hopefully I can pick it up.

There probably will be thousands of unclaimed cars available, but Tesla seems to know nothing to help someone with a strategy to pick up just any car should their delivery window fail.

Ordered 10/19 white/black 18" AP

Went to my local store and inquired about my delivery timeframe. I told the sa when I ordered and he looked at me in disbelief that I hadn't gotten a Vin yet. He put my rn# in the system and under Vin it came up TBD. The sa went and talked to the manager who then came out and said that I should have a Vin by now and to expect one by this weekend. He said that if I don't hear anything in a week to get in touch with them again. He had to re-enter my trade in cause it was passed the 30 days and my cars lost $300 in value. I thanked the manager and went on my way. My brother in law works in the auto industry so I'm going to have him see what he can get me for my trade. Within a couple of hours after leaving Tesla I got the automated text telling me to complete all delivery tasks online to ensure priority vehicle matching. So if you haven't heard anything from Tesla you might have been lost in the mix somehow and should probably reach out to them. Can't be for certain, but I'd imagine that right after talking to a manager, having that text show up wasn't a coincidence.

I got that same text earlier today. I’m hopeful it means I’ll get a delivery date soon.

I placed my order 11/3 LR AWD/White/Black/18”/FSD no VIN yet (even in source code) Dallas TX delivery

It probably means you will get a VIN soon if you have all your information entered.

I think Tesla is worried about all the soft orders generated by the switch to a $100 deposit in mid-October. I could create a problem for them - so serious orders (to Tesla) are probably ones that have their ducks in a row. Good luck.
