Finally after talking to multiple people and dozens of phone calls, I got justice :)

My Owner Advisor said she was OOO and the delivery team missed to call me when MR was discontinued. I still don't know why they responded weirdly when I called, but bygones are bygones. She apologized for the oversight and escalated to the store delivery manager. They were able to get me a 2019 SR+ (Red/Black) with 19" wheels, which was allocated for their store demo. I checked the car and it looks perfectly fine with just 12 km on it. They comped off the red paint, so I pulled the trigger. Taking delivery today - super excited!!

I’m starting to feel like my wife and I made the wrong call giving Tesla money. They don’t seem to take accountability for abysmal service during the delivery process.

Got word today that our LD RWD delivery this morning was being pushed back for the third time. We are now a week and a half out from the original promised delivery date. Our specialist is saying maybe tonight or tomorrow but the website now says Wednesday night... and after the delays we already have been put through I can’t believe any of it.

It’s very disappointing.. I’ve wanted one of these cars since the announcement but this is worse than a Comcast experience.

Perhaps if you wanted a purchase experience like every other car on the market, you should not have chosen a car UNlike anything else on the market.

It has been a month since I ordered and still no news/contact from anyone from Tesla.. I'm disappointed but I'm sure I'll forget all of it the second I'm driving the car out of the Service Center :D

3/25 - Called Tesla to ask for forms again. They would either get to it late today or early tomorrow. I then asked them to check the status of the car. The agent checked and said that the delivery was delayed, and would call me back to see if there were any other closer cars. After about 2 hours, I get a automated text saying that my delivery date has been set to 4/2. No call back from the 3rd agent.

3/26 - Emailed second contact asking for an update and to fax the forms over. No reply.

3/27 - Called again asking for the forms. Agent 4 says that they work sequentially through form stuff for each delivery day. Told me to call Friday afternoon or Saturday morning to see.

3/29 - Called Tesla. Asked for the location of the car. They confirmed that it has been delivered to the location. I ask if they can move the date to 4/1 instead of 4/2. They oblige. I ask them to send the forms to my insurance. They said hopefully it will be done late today or tomorrow. My insurance agent emailed me later that night saying that their office isn’t open on Saturday, so they will get things moving as soon as they get it on Monday.

TL;DR - Tesla needs to send forms to insurance, so they can send forms to credit union, so they can give me money to pay Tesla. Annoying. But still excited for the car.

3/31 - Checked order on the site. Saw that they changed the delivery date to 4/2 instead of 4/1.

4/1 - Called at 10:20. Acted like the delivery date was still for today, and asked for forms to be sent to insurance. They mentioned that the date was changed "accidentally" to Tuesday, but moved it to today at Noon. They will also send out the forms.

Waited an hour, no reply from insurance agent or credit union that the forms/binder were received. Called the credit union and confirmed that was the case. Called Tesla back, they said everything was all set, and that they received the forms back from the insurance as well. They sent the forms to me. Seemed like the form was signed on the 22nd. Called the insurance agent, who says they haven't received anything. I told them that it was signed by someone at the insurance company. The agent rep asked for Tesla's number and called them, then called me back. Tesla had the insurance binder the whole time. It seems that they had reached out to the insurance company directly, using contact info from the uploaded image, instead of the insurance agent I repeatedly told them to fax the info to. I called Tesla and asked them to fax it to my credit union. After about an hour, I called the CU, who confirmed they received it and that I can come by to finalize the loan and get the check. Did that, went to Tesla, and finally took delivery.

TL:DR; Tesla had the insurance binder the whole time since at least 3/22. Financing finally finalized. Got car today. It's sweet.

My own experience suggests that what a human at Tesla tells you about delivery dates is likely to be sort-of-kind-of accurate if you squint your eyes, but what appears on the Web site is about as accurate as the predictions from reading chicken entrails. In my case, the Web site was claiming an in-store delivery on Wednesday April 3, IIRC, at a point on Saturday March 30 when a Tesla employee was driving my car to my house for a home delivery.

Tesla does need to work on this, and I won't make excuses for them. I will advise you to relax and accept that you'll get the car when you get it. To the extent you can do that, it'll be a less stressful experience.

I got my car this morning!!! I love it... I was a bit put off by the fact the car was not clean and it looks like someone put their dirty hands on the cloth side door panel near the seat belt. My husband was able to clean it off and my DS apologized. I saw a bit of a buckle on the rubber near the door, but I don't think that's an issue. Took a drive for lunch and very happy with the feel and the ride. Sounds system is awesome.

Still very happy with my car. I am glad I did go with the premium vehicle since I was waiting on the Standard and wasn't sure about the Partial Premium. I still don't notice anything out of whack, but perhaps I don't know what I am looking for regards to alignment.

02/28 order placed for black/black/aero mr

03/02 delivery set for 13th march

03/07 early 2018 vin assigned

03/12 car did not pass inspection and would be delayed a week, i asked for 2019 vin instead. they said delivery would be within 2 weeks

03/20 told mr discontinued and i will have to upgrade/downgrade. upgraded to LR with waived paint and wheel cost

03/22 delivery set for 30th march

03/25 told delivery is tentative and no vin yet

03/30 still no vin. delivery date on website was changed to “within 2 weeks”. no contact or communication from tesla regarding rescheduling.

04/02 DA says still no vin but tesla is still “producing the long range rear wheel”. Website still states delivery within 2 weeks.

I think I’ve checked my account/status atleast 500 times, just slightly obsessed :)

Since you originally ordered black, what paint did you switch to for free?

I sincerely hope you’ve gotten your plates by now. Best wishes for great driving.

Yes, I got my plates yesterday. Unfortunately, I also found a small paint chip that I missed on my first going-over at a corner of the right taillight, so I'll be taking the car to a Tesla-approved body shop on Monday to have that fixed.

I knew of Tesla's reputation for paint & body problems going in. I rolled the dice. I lost. I've still got my leased Volt, and the body shop will be giving me a ride back home and to pick me up when the work is done, so I won't need to deal with a rental. Overall, it's a nuisance, but once it's fixed, I'll be good. This sort of issue can't be helping Tesla's bottom line, though. It's got to be cheaper to correct their assembly-line problems than to pay body shops to fix problems after the cars are delivered.

Called Fremont yesterday from the caller ID when they called me for the upsale and left a message. They called me back today (shocked and pleased). Seems they have a VIN assigned to me but it is not on my account. I’m hoping it’s true and will see a VIN on my account shortly. I still need to wait for the car to be loaded on a boat for a week’s cruise, offloaded, prepped, then delivered to me or pick up at SC.

That’s good news then! What exactly did you tell them in your message?

Sorry about the paint chip. Where is the body Shop? Yesterday I got to thinking that I never had a chance to look at the under sides of my 3. So I
took it to my former oil change guy who I know well. He drove over one of the oil change pits and let me go down for a look. Everything looks fine except there are some clips missing on the passenger side near the rocker panel. I’ve got a service appointment to fix. Sucks that you can’t drive your car right now. You sure are very patient. Hope the paint chip gets fixed very quickly.
