LR set to 90%. Used to go to 290 mi but now 281 mi

I have a Model 3 Long Range. I have it set to charge to 90%, which I think is the factory default.

Earlier this year, I would get a notification on my phone that the car is charged and it has 290 mile range. But now, it says it’s charged with 281 mile range. Did my battery degrade this quickly over the last several months? Or is it some sort of firmware update messing around with numbers? I’ve had the car since July 2018 and has about 7000 miles.

Anyone else seeing something similar?

Thanks! Useful datapoint. Although it seems weird since doesn’t LR get 325 miles? So 90% should be 292.

There is definitely something wrong with this current software and I hope it will be fixed with the next update. It's happening to tons of people at the same time. Matt from Tech Forum even heard from a Tesla employee that this is the case, but they don't always know more than us.

Actually his is not the same range. Yours is 310 (AWD), OP is 325 (RWD). His 290 is about right. His 280 is normal variation.

Hmmm.
At 90%, I get 450 km (279-280 mi) and at 100 %, I get 500 km (310-311 mi).
Was the same with the 19.15.x software. But then, I only have 1850 km (1150 mi) on the car.

RWD LR is rated 325

90% for each is different, as mentioned above.
Assuming OP has RWD, that’s quite a drop for the 90% mark in a short time.

I also have a LR Model 3 (July 2018 Build) with 20k and at 90% I'm getting 281/280. It has to due with the battery management system and how the calculation is done for actual rated miles.

Ah, thanks. Yes, I do have RWD, so 325 miles (although when I first bought it, they told me 310 miles).

My 90% has been 277-279 for over a year, after getting 32.2.2 I've gotten 281, 286, and 281 the last few charges.

You will need to have something other than teslafi or stats data (it will need to be something shown directly on screen on the car or in the tesla app). Otherwise they will not care one single bit about teslafi or any other third party app data collection, regarldess of where it is coming from.

They are also not going to care about any "estimated" total. they will tell you to charge to 100 and show what the car actually charges to, when allowed to complete a charge at 100%. It sometimes takes time when charging to 100% so you would need to let it finish. You will need to do that, and take a picture, and have that picture show 100% is like 280, for them to even start to look at it.

The chart you are likely referencing is from an web application called "teslafi" which has a free trial but is not a free application for long term use.

That looks like TeslaFi, which a cool cloud service, but is not free. There are free alternatives if you are a geek like me and can host your own software, like TeslaMate.
