[vc_row][vc_column][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/6aRbhWk99Xk” video_title=”1″][vc_column_text]Lucid Motors released a video Monday showing a prototype of its Lucid Air sedan hit a top speed of 235 mph.

Speed was the goal at the test session early this month at the Transportation Research Center in Ohio. The Lucid prototype was configured to go as fast as possible, including the removal of software to limit the car’s speed. Tesla software limits speed in the Model S to 155 mph.

A blog post on Lucid’s website says the Air prototype “performed beautifully” and was “perfectly stable in corners and on the straight.”

“While it may be the top speed achievable on that day, with those conditions, and at this stage of development for the Alpha Speed Car, it is not the final production top speed for the Lucid Air,” the blog post said. “What it does represent, however, is further proof that the Lucid Air is a vehicle without compromise, one that offers incredible performance and dynamics, yet still offers remarkable space and comfort for a sublime luxury experience.”

The prototype is pushing about 1,000-horsepower, but the first production model will be around 400 horsepower. The $60,000 vehicle is said to ship in 2019, offering 240 miles of electric-powered range.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row]
