M3 in the Shop

So my Model 3 is temporarily out of commission. I don't have even 1,000 miles on it and multiple warnings popped up. The shop has had it for a week and won't even start servicing it until tomorrow. I absolutely love my M3 and am super bummed ( and disappointed) at how long it's taking. I'm having withdrawals.

Yes they did give me a model S. It feels... old and like I'm driving a boat but it is def fast!

There were about 4 of them consecutively: power reduced, regen braking stopped, cannot charge, service car warning...something like that.

Unfortunately for cars with fewer moving parts the number of breakdowns seems far higher than most other ICE cars.

Annecdotal...yes....but, Nissan Leaf forums and the Bolt forums don't seem to have as many breakdown posts as the Tesla forums. Also per several publications, the Nissan Leaf is one of the most reliable cars on the road.

Yes...so the service center I took it to is super busy and they only diagnosed my M3 yesterday. They said the battery pack is dead and needs a full replacement. I'm so...I don't know what to think at this point. I know they will make it right I'm just so upset .

They also said they have not seen a M3 with this type of repair at this SC.

Wow you should ask for a new car, I don't know the specifics of the lemon law but you should look into it

I wonder if there is so much "new" with the Model 3, much of the learning (and quality) curve is starting all over again for them. It's unfortunate that "waiting out" these initial pains puts folks at risk for losing the full tax credit. I assume the dual motor cars will add yet another potential pain point in the ramp up. Tesla-life.

I traded in my loaner model S for a model X. I just love the falcon wing doors but it heavy. At least it will keep me from speeding in the mean time

Selection bias, but it seems like there's way too many threads here about brand new Model 3s just dying. I wonder if the failure rate is comparable to the early days of the S and X, or other car manufacturers for that matter.
