M3 now asking for the key card...why?

afternoon all

Since I picked up my M3 last March we have always used our phones as the key however last couple of times of using the car I have had to use the card. The phone app is still working, I can lock and unlock the car , start charges etc

Any ideas why this happened and anybody else experienced the same?

M3 is on software release 2020.48.35.5

I've had this when my phone has been in my back pocket. Apparently my arse blocks bluetooth Seriously.

It sometimes does that. It’s probably making sure that you haven’t pinched the phone

That is totally true.

You have to swing you butt around before opening the door, or move the phone to where the car can "see" it.

Mine has stopped reacting at all to my phone...even holding it up to the b pillar with the phone unlocked wont do anything...I have to use the app to unlock the car and then do a remote start from the app...last few days...fails every time...I'm on latest software update and have a galaxy S10 which I have never had any issues with until the last few days

Mine stopped seeing the phone after the update to 2020.48.35.5 a few days ago.

I removed the phone as a key and then added it again. It's working fine now.

Make sure the Tesla application is allowed to run in the background.

I’ve noticed this problem if I’ve had the car sitting around for a while with the boot or a door open. After a few drives where the keycard had been demanded to drive, but not to unlock, operation by phone seems to revert to normal.

All - resolved my issue by signing out of my Tesla Account on the phone, closed the app, re-launched the app, signed in again and all working. For reference, iPhone 8
