Now that I look at the picture a little bit more careful it looks like you did measure the inside and the outside treads. What about the center tread?

Center tread is 65HA, the outside tread on the outside edge of the bonding line is 70HA. Didn't think to measure the inside corner, but since they are directional that may matter/be different - will check that later this morning.

Did you measure at operating temperatures?? If not, what was the ambient temperature?
 
The sidewalls being soft don’t make logical sense because that would make the car handle worse when cornering.

The construction of the tyre in regards to the sidewall stiffness is not related to the rubber compound. Using harder rubber on the shoulder reduces the accelerated wear that normally occurs in this area on a performance tyre running ‘road spec’ camber.
