If you can swing it, extend your visit during TMC 2016 and check out the Thomas Flyer (which went around the world in 1908 in the New York to Paris race), and the 1936 Baker Electric (including its rectifier charger). Located in downtown Reno, the National Auto Museum is one of the best in the country, and the volume of fully restored vehicles (which started with casino mogul Bill Harrah's collection) fills nearly an entire city block.

I posted about this in the TMC Connect thread here: TMC Connect 2016

I plan on going on Saturday afternoon, after the SC ribbon cutting, if there are others who want to meet up to go.

Now I am leaning not to go. I might be going to Lake Tahoe (Echo Lake) to see my niece with my brother.

Stay until next weekend and go to Hot August Nights. A fun classic car event with free entertainment through the weekend.

Ok, I called the museum and spoke to a nice woman named Lisa. We're all set for a group tour Saturday at 1:30pm. This is just their regular guided tour, it's too soon to schedule a dedicated docent for our "Tesla Group". The group rate is $8 per person instead of the regular $10. We can all pay individually when we get there.

There is no other guided tour after 1:30pm so if you want to get onto the tour, we need to get there in time. Otherwise it's all self-guided.

Link to museum website: National Automobile Museum

It's about 3 miles from the Atlantis, and 11 minutes by car. See map below.

I suppose people will want to get lunch between the Supercharger opening and the 1:30 tour. There is a mexican restuarant right across the street from the museum -- Bertha Mirandas (see: Bertha Miranda's Mexican Food Resaurant and Cantina).

If I can get a good committed headcount, I can call the restaurant for our group, but it might just be better to tell them we're coming, and take separate tables of 4-tops instead of one big group.

If we leave the Atlantis at 11:45 and get to the restaurant by noon, that gives us 90 minutes for lunch.

If you are interested in lunch and the museum (or just one or the other), please POST IN THIS THREAD with your intentions and number of people. Please do NOT send me a PM. Let's keep it all in one place. Thanks.

We also might need to arrange a little carpooling to get up there and back.

I'll be there for the museum tour at 1:30pm but probably have a conflict that prevents me from being at the lunch.

Ok, I'm in for the National Auto Museum as well. Afterwards we'll see if there is interest for a Tech session.
