Manual firmware update (for new charge port)

Great thread.
Is there a way to get rid of the software is ready to install messages? Meaning get rid or the staged install? I'm trying to stay on 2019.16.2 and not update!

Hi @kdday , Im from Sri Lanka and I own a 2015 Tesla Model S 70D. My current software version is v7.1 (2.10.56) and Tesla wont allow any over the air updates as the current version is too old to connect to their servers. Only option is to ship my car to a Tesla service center as we dont have any SCs in my country and the nearest one is 4000km away in Hongkong. Is there a way around so I can get updates to my car?

Then once you have it, remove the glove box and look at your APE computer behind it. Remove it's white Ethernet cable and connect your new cable to it (this is the Ethernet cable going to your MCU).

Then, plug the Ethernet cable into your laptop and set your laptop ip address on the Ethernet port to 192.168.90.103

Then use a terminal to telnet into your MCU by typing "telnet 192.168.90.100 25956"

Then type "factory-redeploy" and hit enter. Your MCU will turn blue after a few seconds and start the automatic firmware redeploy to all car components. You do NOT need to push any buttons on the MCU to start it. Just wait. It'll reboot a bunch. 45 minutes later it'll be complete and say so, but still be blue.

Restart the MCU by holding down the two steering scroll wheels for a few seconds in order to make the blue screen go away.

You should be done.

Will this also trigger a firmware download if the car has no updates to do?

CID updater is not running on my MCU1. I can ping the CID from the IC, put it into developer mode and factory mode, but there is no response to telnet on 25956. I need to run a service redeploy to install new hardware. How do I start the cid updater?

Best bet is to take your car to service center and have MCU request firmware redeploy. See here

There is some trick. If you don't get ping from ethernet, that doesn't mean that you don't have connection. Same on Intel cars.

Tried that for hours tonight, rebooted CID and gateway from developer mode on the MCU. Turned off 12V etc. Ran nmap, port 25956 is never open.
